The fascination with the world of current technology has permeated all levels of our life. Even my 79 year old mother has learned how to use the internet and now communicates with our extended family all over the world through e-mail and social media.

My two sons, Juan (16) and Daniel (12), as any other kid, had shown their inclination to technology too, but they took it a little further. They wanted to go into computer programming and game developing. My wife and I decided it was a good idea to support this interest which gives them a stage for their creativity and a good use of their time.

So last year we acquired the necessary tools: A Mac Computer and a Corona license, just that. We thought this would be the beginning of a series of expenses to promote this new born idea, but fortunately the only additional investment we have made has been the dedication and commitment from all of us to create and develop Wacky Balls, our first mobile game application.

Of course our first try was filled with mistakes and redundant work, but with the support of Corona, its tutorials, blogs and forums, our eldest son, Juan, could understand more each day about how to program and thus move forward to publish Wacky Balls, his first game in the appstore.

This was our after school and after work project. Juan in the programming, and me in charge of the graphics.

Our initial phase took us 2 months of continuous work. On April 10  the initial version of Wacky Balls was approved for publication in the app store.

We were hopping for 2000 or 3000 downloads of our first app, due to the constraints of our budget for advertisement, but oh, surprise, we reached more than 10,000 downloads in just one month, without any extra support, just some word of mouth among our friends and the game concept per se. A real hit for us which gave us the drive to work harder for a more complete version and to correct the errors found in the first try.

On August 15 we launched the new version of the game, which includes two additional game modes (Horse and Time trial) and where we changed dramatically the presentation of the game, making it more competitive, friendly and fun.

A more dynamic and complete Wacky Balls, with facebook result sharing, and options to play with friends on the same mobile, adjust the degree of complexity, control the music and sounds, and new super powers (Double Point, Diamond, Multiple, Shield and, my favorite, Spike) which makes the game a real chance for entertainment and skill test.

Initially designed for children but with these new enhancements Wacky Balls has had a spectacular welcome by experienced players, young and adults who like games that really engage their skills and control.

With the versatility and power of Corona this version was also released on the Android Market. In order to find resources to grow and market our game, we also included the Inmobi Adds a very easy to install utility that surely will help us build this intereting project.

Big News !!!!! Surprise again! The new version of Wacky Balls achieves 9.078 downloads  in just one day on Sept. 8!
